Evaluation Results

Now in our 4th edition, our curriculum has been evaluated and updated based on the latest social and developmental findings, expert analysis, and student and educator feedback. As a result, we are included in CASEL’s Middle and High School Guide to Effective SEL Programs and were included in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

Annual surveys from School-Connect educators speak to positive classroom and campus impacts, specifically class climate, teacher-student relationships, respect for others, and emotional management. Teachers have also reported higher levels of connection (or deeper relationships) among students and more meaningful class discussions.

Findings

An outcome study conducted by Agile Analytics has shown that for students who were taught School-Connect lessons consistently there was a significant decrease in discipline referrals for class disruptions and disrespect toward adults and an increase in academic performance. Findings from a study conducted by Multi-Dimensional Education Inc. reported healthier and increased positive levels of school climate, educational attitudes, and developmental perspectives when School-Connect is used consistently. This study also supports School-Connect’s positive impact on education and classrooms seeking to help students successfully transition into high school. In a separate study of students receiving Special Education services and receiving School-Connect lessons, attendance rates increased and disciplinary referrals and suspensions decreased.
